FIL takes control of its future energy costs.

In five years factory output doubled while energy prices increased by 43% but FIL still paid the same $ amount for energy in 2007 as they did in 2002. Taking a “plan or be planned for” approach, the Mt Maunganui based chemical company, limited its exposure to rising energy costs through use reduction, regeneration and self-sufficiency. The first Interactive Planning cycle halved the company’s energy cost per tonne.  Innovative design and execution ensured the projects had a return on investment of over 30%.

The second Interactive Planning cycle, completed in early 2008 with a move to purpose designed premises, set a new benchmark for energy efficiency in manufacturing.
